Delta Governor’s Aide Offers ₦500,000, VIP Trip, and Ambassadorial Role to Young Lady in Viral Tony Elumelu Video

Ossai Ovie Success, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, has offered a support package to the young United Bank for Africa (UBA) staff member who faced intense online criticism following a viral encounter with billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu.
The offer includes a ₦500,000 cash grant, return flight tickets to Asaba, five-star hotel accommodation, VIP access to the upcoming 4th Delta Social Media Summit, and a brand ambassadorial role for the annual event.
The controversy began after a clip circulated from UBA’s Graduate Management Accelerated Programme ceremony showing the young employee addressing the bank’s chairman simply as “Tony” while asking a question. Elumelu corrected her, stating he preferred to be addressed as “Mr Elumelu” or “TOE,” leading to immediate compliance by the staff member but sparking widespread debate and backlash across social media platforms.
Addressing the relentless online criticism aimed at the employee, Ossai stated that public condemnation had gone too far.
“I know the internet can be harsh. Depression is real, and words cut deep,” Ossai said in a public statement. “She made a mistake, but we don’t need to torment her daily; she needs our support. Let’s turn this pain into purpose.”
Beyond the financial support and summit access, the media aide promised the young woman a guided tour of developmental projects in Delta State and invited anyone with her contact information to ask her to reach out via direct message to claim the offer and share her story.
Ossai also commended Elumelu for stepping in constructively during the event, thanking the UBA Chairman for “pointing out the needed correction that will further strengthen respect in our society.”
The 4th edition of the Delta Social Media Summit is scheduled to take place at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park, opposite Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba.
