Etsu Nupe Felicitates Sultan of Sokoto at 70, Extols His Commitment to Peace and National Unity

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has extended warm congratulations to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
In a congratulatory statement released in Bida on Monday, the royal father described the milestone as a moment of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah for His continued mercy, protection, and blessings upon the Sultan’s life.
Highlighting the Sultan’s contributions to the nation, the Etsu Nupe commended the prominent traditional leader for his exemplary leadership, humility, and steadfast commitment to fostering unity, peace, and development across Nigeria.
He noted that the Sultan’s fatherly guidance and statesmanlike interventions have been instrumental in bridging ethnic and religious divides.
”Through wise counsel and consistent advocacy for dialogue, justice, and peaceful resolution of conflicts, His Eminence has distinguished himself as a voice of reason that commands respect across cultural and religious spectrums,” Abubakar stated.
The Etsu Nupe also praised the Sultan’s stewardship as President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), noting that his leadership has significantly strengthened the role of traditional and religious institutions in addressing key national challenges.
Furthermore, he cited the Sultan’s dedicated service to the country—first as a military officer and now as the leader of the Sokoto Caliphate—as a shining example for future generations.
Offering prayers on behalf of his family, the Nupe Kingdom, and the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Abubakar asked Almighty Allah to grant the Sultan good health, long life, and continued wisdom to serve the Muslim Ummah and the nation at large.
He also urged Nigerians to support traditional and religious leaders in their ongoing efforts to promote harmony and national progress.
