In a major boost for local commerce and infrastructure, Niger State’s Executive Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, officially opened the newly reconstructed Ultra-Modern Market in Bida, which is now renamed the Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago Ultra-Modern Market.
Previously known as Etsu Musa Market, the trading center was destroyed by fire in 2018. Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi, representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency, facilitated its comprehensive reconstruction and modern redesign.
At the commissioning ceremony, Governor Bago praised Hon. Abdullahi for his vision and dedication to revitalizing economic activity in the area. He also announced approval for constructing a similar modern market in Agaie, the headquarters of Agaie Local Government Area.
Governor Bago urged shop owners to manage the facilities responsibly and recommended that the Local Government Authority oversee market operations to ensure sustainable maintenance.
Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi reflected on the project’s resilience, emphasizing how it transformed tragedy into a modern asset for future generations. He commended Governor Bago’s leadership in expanding economic opportunities across Niger State.
The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, stated that the facility meets international standards and highlighted its potential to boost socio-economic activities in Bida. He urged shop owners to maintain the property diligently.
