Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, joined Vice President Kashim Shettima and other prominent dignitaries in Ilorin for the turbaning ceremony of Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
The traditional title was conferred on Governor AbdulRazaq by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, at the Shehu Abdulkadir Hall inside the Emir’s Palace.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Bago congratulated Governor AbdulRazaq, describing the honor as a well-deserved recognition of his leadership, humility, and steadfast contributions to humanity. He expressed confidence that the traditional elevation would inspire the Kwara Governor to intensify his efforts toward promoting peace, unity, and development.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Guest of Honor, Vice President Kashim Shettima commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s governance record, noting his administration’s major agricultural initiatives geared toward enhancing food security.
The Vice President emphasized that Governor AbdulRazaq is only the second person in history to hold the esteemed title of Sardauna of Ilorin, following in the footsteps of the late business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Umar Saro.
