Police Arrest Five Robbery Suspects, Recover Beretta Pistol in Niger State
Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have smashed an armed robbery syndicate terrorizing residential neighborhoods in Minna, arresting five suspects and recovering a Beretta pistol along with two rounds of live ammunition.
Confirming the development in a statement released in Minna, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that the syndicate was behind a series of armed robberies across Sauka-Kahuta, Mandela, Barkin-Sale, Farm Centre, and Highpoint areas.
According to the police spokesperson, the breakthrough followed an initial report of a robbery invasion in Sauka-Kahuta, where the gang carted away laptops, mobile phones, motorcycles, and other valuable items.
Subsequent investigations by police operatives led to the arrest of the 25-year-old gang leader in the Maitumbi area on August 17. Interrogation of the gang leader enabled detectives to track down and apprehend four additional syndicate members in coordinated raids across Niger and Nasarawa states.
All five suspects are currently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna, where they are undergoing further interrogation.
Meanwhile, police detectives are actively pursuing an alleged receiver of the stolen properties to recover all missing items.
